Jones International University® partners with Volunteers of America to donate ‘Stuff for Students'

DENVER, Colo., (August
21, 2012) —
Children
in the Denver-area will receive school supplies next week courtesy of the Stuff
for Students drive organized by Volunteers of America and 9NEWS.  Jones International University®
(JIU®) partnered with these organizations and aided in the
collection effort between July 18th and August 20th.  At the end of the month-long period, JIU
collected and delivered two van-loads full of supplies for the drive. Once
sorted, Volunteers of America will distribute the school supplies to fifteen
Denver-area school districts where the items will then be provided to children
in need.

Every
year, the list of school supplies required by students grows along with the
costs associated with these materials. For low-income families, the coming of
the new school year can be a financial burden. In an effort to help defray this
need-based cost for low-income families, Volunteers of America created the
Stuff for Students drive, a community service program that collects school
supplies for children in need.  Volunteers of America works with corporate
partners and individual donors in the Denver area to collect supplies which are
then distributed to teachers in local school districts.  Teachers may distribute supplies to children
in their classroom to help the maximum number of students reach their fullest
potential.

"With
the cost of school supplies averaging about $75 per child, many families struggle
to provide their children with basic supplies for the school year.  The Stuff for Students drive ensures children
in need will receive all the materials they need to get the school year off to
a good start." stated Richard Cox, President of Jones International
University.

Volunteers
of America is a nonprofit organization providing a ministry of service that
includes nearly 16,000 paid, professional employees dedicated to helping

thousands of human service programs, including housing and healthcare,

over 400 communities in 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and

.   Donations to the Stuff for Students drive are welcome; cash
