U.S. Department of
Education and Department of Defense program created to honor members of the
education community who have assisted military personnel begin new teaching

DENVER, Colo., (May 6, 2013) — Jones International University® (JIU®)today
announced that Founder Glenn R. Jones will be inducted into the Troops to
Teachers Hall of Fame on May 9, 2013. Troops to Teachers is a U.S. Department of Education and
Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel begin a new
career as teachers in public schools where their skills, knowledge and
experience are most needed. The Troops to Teachers Hall of Fame was created to
honor members of the educational community who have made significant
contributions to assist veterans as they transition to the teaching

It is the intent of Troops to Teachers to induct one or two professionals
from the education community into the Hall of Fame each year. Nominations for
the award are accepted from Troops to Teachers State and Regional
Directors.  Nominees are considered based on the level of support
exhibited through their professional activities for military members who enter
the teaching profession.

A veteran of
the U.S. Navy, Glenn R. Jones founded Jones International University in 1993,
coupling his expertise in communications technology with his desire to “democratize” education by making it as widely
available as possible. The first fully online university to receive
accreditation, Jones International University has garnered recognition
including a ranking as one of the top
five of the best online universities in the world, according to the Global
Academy Online.

As one of the founding members of the James
Madison National Council, a private advisory board to the Library of Congress,
Jones now serves on the Steering Committee and is Chair of the Education
Committee. Additionally, he is the author of several books including Cyberschools, An Education Renaissance, and Free Market Fusion

“It is a great honor to be recognized by the
Troops to Teachers program,” stated Jones.
“I founded JIU in order to provide educational opportunities to students
located anywhere in the world and especially to support our troops who are
often deployed in foreign countries for extended periods of time.”

Jones will be inducted into the Troops to
Teachers Hall of Fame on May 9, 2013 along with General John Barry, the current
Superintendent of Aurora Public Schools.
A ceremony for the Hall of Fame induction will be held in Denver, Colorado.
