JIU Verification Policy

The JIU Verification Policy is written to ensure that JIU students understand the requirements to complete federal verification. Here are JIU’s guidelines for verification:

  • Students selected for verification must provide documents to clear verification.
  • Students must submit required verification by the end of the 8-week course term or 14 days, whichever is greater.
  • Students who fail to provide the required documentation within the established time frame will be dismissed from JIU.
  • You will be notified if the results of verification change your scheduled award.
  • Any suspected case of fraud will be reported to the Regional Office of the Inspector General, or, if more appropriate, to a state or local law enforcement agency having jurisdiction to investigate the matter. Referrals to local or state agencies will be reported on an annual basis to the Inspector General.
  • No interim disbursements of Federal Student Aid will be made prior to the completion of verification.
  • Requests for special circumstances are handled by requesting Professional Judgment from your Financial Aid Advisor at 800.811.5663, option 3.

JIU will assist you in completing the Verification Process. Please contact your Financial Aid Advisor at 800.811.5663, option 3.
