Overview

Staff Development Adult Education Leadership covers the principles and practices of being a leader in a staff development organization with adult education programs. It provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to accurately and completely develop and utilize principles, strategies and methodologies for leading staff development adult education programs. The course blends two instructional strategies. First, the student explores the basic principles and related practices, strategies and methodologies of leadership in healthcare adult education programs. Second, the student applies these learned principles and practices in a sponsored synthesizing project applying adult education leadership principles, strategies and methodologies in a staff development adult learning organization.

The course project, Staff Development Adult Education Leadership, is designed to demonstrate mastery of the course objectives. The application of adult education leadership will be conducted for one of the sponsoring organization adult education programs. A final written report, Staff Development Adult Education Leadership, detailing the process and outcomes of applying the learned leadership principles, strategies and methodologies to one development adult education programs will be the synthesizing course project.

Course Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Analyze and explain the purpose, role and functions of staff development adult education programs in organizations.
  • Develop strategies to obtain organizational approval and support for staff development training and education programs.
  • Describe and apply strategies for internal marketing of staff development training and education programs within organizations.
  • Analyze and construct staff development training and education programs in support of organizational key performance indicators.
  • Develop and implement planning and budgeting processes and procedures for staff development training and education programs.
  • Develop processes, procedures and programs to measure the organizational impact of staff development training and education programs.
  • Appraise and explain the major contributions of the staff development training and education to the field of adult education.
  • Analyze and discuss major contemporary issues in staff development training and education programs.
