IT103: Rise and Influence of Digital Media

Estimated Hours Per Week:
5

Overview

The earliest forms of multiple uses of media can be arguably traced back to the paintings and “learning environments” created by humans in the caves of Lascaux, France. These examples of media and storytelling are the first that combined sight and sound. Technology and the rise of the machines have created a new world of digital media with diverse impacts on nearly every profession from journalism, to sales and marketing, to the entertainment industry.

You will study the past, present, and future of digital media while developing a virtual timeline and writing a research paper. Discussions that incorporate the sharing of ideas and knowledge will help facilitate and encourage you to continue examining digital media technologies in the future.
