Overview
This course examines key factors in creating a new business with a global market focus. It promotes the development of skills needed to:
- Assess the viability of a new business concept
- Understand the conditions of international business within specific countries
- Analyze competitive environments and market potential
- Implement sustainable business strategies
The course project is an International Business Plan: Expanding to International Markets. The plan includes product and country selection, pricing, marketing, partnering options, and the development of background information on cultural differences and their potential impact on project feasibility.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Describe factors that have contributed to expanding opportunities globally.

Examine importing and exporting opportunities versus foreign direct investment.

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of joint ventures, licensing, exporting, and/or foreign direct investment in global market development.

Explain factors that impact internal cost and consumer price in a global market.

Develop strategies related to product, industry, and growth in a global market based on sustainable economics theory.

Develop an international business plan that includes market potential, competitive information, rationale for partnerships, and pricing considerations.
