Jones International University is a proud member of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC). SOC was created in 1972 to provide educational opportunities to service members who, because they moved frequently, had trouble completing college degrees. The SOC Consortium features over 1,900 institutional members committed to helping service members, their families and veterans earn their degree. SOC coordinates associate and bachelor's degree programs in a variety of curriculum areas for the Army (SOCAD), Navy (SOCNAV), Marine Corps (SOCMAR), Coast Guard (SOCCOAST) and Army National Guard (SOCGuard).
A SOC member school makes it easier to obtain college degrees rather than just accumulate course credit by:
- Limiting the amount of course work students must take at a single college to no more than 25% of degree requirements (30% if the degree is offered entirely online).
- Within each curriculum or degree network, SOC member colleges accept each other’s credits in transfer to minimize loss of credit and avoid duplication of course work.
- Award credit for military experience.
- Award credit for tests such as CLEP, ECE and DSST national testing programs.
