Letter from the President

Dr. David E. Leasure

Warmest greetings to Jones International University students, professors and associates!

We are so pleased to have you with us as we head into the final months of the year. We have worked hard this year to ensure that you find your educational experience an increasingly important part of your personal and professional success. Whether it's the improvements to your learning interface, the encouragement of experienced faculty, or the friendly voice of your Academic Services Counselor, we're here for you.

In this issue of the JIU Insider, you’ll read about a number of exciting changes. In the School of Education, we're offering a new degree program that helps prepare prospective and existing teachers for an endorsement in instructional technology. Also new in the School of Education is a unique sponsored learning model that engages students with real-world projects and potential employers well before graduation.

In the School of Business, we have responded to evolving employer requirements with an improved MBA program that is more convenient and takes less time to complete. Read more in the letter from Dean Thompson in this issue.

In the Business Communication programs, you’ll find enhancements and new courses. I'm especially proud of our courses in the areas of sales and service supporting the business community’s increased emphasis on these areas. Of special note is a simulation-based course, ETH 501 Making Ethical Management Decisions, that is both fun and more relevant than ever in today's business climate.

Our commitment to student success is also evident in our international programs, through which we have been selected by the Mexican federal government to provide project management courses to its employees. Check out other news in the letter from the Chair of International Programs.

I continue to hear very positive feedback from our students about our commitment to service, the quality of our courses, helpfulness of our faculty, and overall positive experiences being enjoyed at JIU. Keep the feedback coming, whether to tell us what’s working well or what’s in need of improvement. We love to hear from you on both fronts, because it helps us know what's important to you. You'll find the feedback form at Feedback Form.

Best wishes,

David E. Leasure, PhD
