Dorothy J. Della Noce
Dr. Dorothy J. Della Noce is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at James Madison University, where she has taught since 2003. She was named the Communication Studies Professor of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2008. She has taught undergraduate, graduate and professional students for a variety of institutions since 1994. In addition to teaching, Dorothy has worked as an attorney and a mediator.
Dr. Della Noce is widely published in academic journals such as Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution,Pepperdine Dispute Resolution Law Journal, Hofstra Labor & Employment Law Journal, Negotiation Journal, Mediation Quarterly and Communication Teacher. She has co-authored the book Mediator Communication Competencies: Problem Solving and Transformative Practices (2005, 5th ed.), and contributed chapters to other books.
She is a Fellow and a founding Board Member of the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation in New York, and a former president of both the Academy of Family Mediators and the Virginia Mediation Network. She is currently a member of the Editorial Board of Conflict Resolution Quarterly.
