Dr. Knowles is currently a full-time faculty member in the EdD Adult Education program at Jones International University. Prior to this position, she was the instructional leader in the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning at University of Northern Colorado. While at UNC, she was elected to the WCET steering committee of the Western Interstate Commission of Higher Education.

Previously, Dr. Knowles was the Coordinator of Program Quality Development and taught courses in adult education at Park University. During her tenure at Park, she became certified as a Quality Matters peer reviewer and master reviewer. For fifteen year,s she was a consultant to professional design associations for review of continuing education programs and providers. This work stemmed from her pos- doctoral work on a research grant from The American Institute of Architects to develop a continuing education program at the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Knowles has presented numerous papers on online education and assessment of learning at various academic conferences. She has published the following journal articles with co-authors:
