Dr. Mathis is Professor of International Banking and Finance at Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona, where he formerly chaired the World Business Department. He also is a member of Thunderbird's Executive Education faculty. Dr. Mathis was project director for the American Business Centers in Nizhny Novgorod and Volgograd, Russia and was Project Director for the Center for Business Skills Development, a U.S. Agency for International Development Projects. Under his guidance, Thunderbird opened its first Global Business Center, located in Shanghai. The Thunderbird International Trade Finance Center, headed by Dr. Mathis, served as a focal point for training programs, research projects, conferences, and roundtable meetings on all aspects of international banking and trade finance for U.S. and international banks. Prior to Thunderbird, Dr. Mathis was Senior Portfolio Officer with the World Bank/International Finance Corporation and Senior Financial Analyst with the World Bank/International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. For 14 years, he was Chief International Economist with Continental Illinois Bank and before that was with the Chase Manhattan Bank. Dr. Mathis is President of Transnational Corporate Advisory Services, Inc., a financial consulting, training and research company.
