Jay has more than 30 years of experience in designing and developing and managing the design and development of education and training. He came to JIU in 2001, first as an Instructional Design Manager and now as Director of Instructional Development, leading the team of instructional designers who work with faculty to develop JIU courses.
Jay began his career at the University of Texas at Austin College of Education, managing the Learning Resources Center Media Lab, providing media production services for faculty and students. He went on to manage a large-scale hardware/software/courseware project for McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) that is currently in use training US Navy carrier pilots and instructor pilots. Over 2,300 Navy and Marine Corps aviators have earned their wings in the T-45 Training System.
Jay then worked for the American Water Works Association (AWWA), managing a series of 17 live satellite broadcasts of education and training seminars. At AWWA, he also developed the first and still the only online training program customized specifically for the water supply profession.
