Joanne Maypole, Ph.D., has been with Jones International University since July 2011, serving first as the Academic Chair of Education and then Acting Dean, School of Education. Her Doctor of Philosophy degree is from Colorado State University in Higher Education Leadership; her M.A. is in History from University of Colorado at Denver, and her B.A. is also in History from Metro State College. Dr. Maypole earned a secondary social studies teaching license and has experience as a secondary social studies teacher and as a substitute teacher in Denver Public Schools and Adams County Schools. Dr. Maypole has many years of experience working with adult learners and has completed substantive coursework in adult education and student development theory. Her dissertation topic related to working with adult students using constructivist teaching methodologies. Dr. Maypole has held leadership positions as Dean of General Education and Assessment at American Sentinel University; Dean of Arts, Design, Social and Behavioral Sciences at Arapahoe Community College; Dean of the Center for Health Sciences at Community College of Denver; and was a faculty member and department chair at Front Range Community College. She has taught as an adjunct faculty member at Metro State College, Regis University, and Front Range Community College. She has an active publication and presentation list; served on the Board of Directors of Central Colorado Area Health Education Center; and participated in, or chaired, a number of professional groups and community organizations.
