Johanna Even earned her doctorate in Administration Planning and Social Policy at Harvard's Graduate School of Education in June of 2002. Her dissertation research focused on the role of instructional coaching in supporting the development of professional learning communities in schools.
Dr. Even currently works as the principal of the Marshall Humphrey Elementary School in Chandler, AZ. She also served as the principal of the John D. Philbrick School in Roslindale, MA. Before becoming a principal, Dr. Even worked as an elementary school teacher and a literacy coach, supporting teachers in implementing new literacy practices. She has also taught courses in the Administrative Certification Programs at Cambridge College, Arizona State University, and Northern Arizona University.
