Lisa Braverman

Dr. Lisa R. Braverman is one of the foremost leaders and innovators in the field of adult, professional and online education. She has served as associate provost and dean of continuing and professional education at major colleges and universities throughout the NY metropolitan region. Throughout her career, she has provided pioneering leadership and successful growth strategies in distance, continuing and international education and strategic community/corporate partnerships.

As Associate Provost for Adult Programs and Outreach at Long Island University, one of the largest comprehensive private instructions of higher education in the US, she forged the design and growth of innovative new blended adult degree completion programs and strategic partnerships.

As Dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology, Dr. Braverman developed international partnerships in Latin America and Southeast Asia, including an articulation with the Minister of Manpower in Singapore. She also spearheaded FIT’s first Center for Innovation Management, a dynamic leadership institute that assisted companies and CEOs with innovation and change.

In her role as Dean of Extended Education at NY Institute of Technology, Dr. Braverman served as CAO of NYIT’s Online Campus and led innovative improvement initiatives in distance education there. She also grew online enrollment and greatly enhanced student services and online pedagogy.

Dr. Braverman has held top leadership posts in professional adult, online and CE associations, including on the Board of Directors of both ACHE and UPCEA. She has served as Chair of the UPCEA’s Leadership Commission and Past Chair of its Leadership and Strategy Network. Dr. Braverman is also certified in distance education by the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies.

Dr. Braverman is a consultant and published author, with two journal articles on corporate education in JCHE and a chapter on the future of continuing higher education in a recent publication by Jossey Bass.  She holds a Ph.D. from New York University and is regularly invited to speak on topics such as innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education, corporate outreach, higher education leadership, executive education, strategic partnerships, international education and other topics essential to the field of continuing higher education.
