Dr. Mark Pieffer is the Associate Dean of the School of Business at Jones International University (JIU). Prior to joining JIU he spent 23-years on active duty as an Airborne Ranger Infantry Officer serving in leadership positions around the world. Of his 23-years on active duty, 13 were overseas. In his last active duty assignment, he commanded the ROTC Battalion at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Under his leadership, The Battalion was rated as the best Battalion in the Nation for two consecutive years, a feat that had never been accomplished. He received recognition from then the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Colin Powell.
Following his retirement from the Army, Dr. Pieffer spent 21-years as an educator at Colorado Technical University where he began as an Adjunct Professor and held every educational position from Adjunct Professor, Full Professor, Director of Education and culminating as a Campus President. Dr. Pieffer assumed the Campus Presidency of a Campus which was rated as 74 out of 77 campuses in the Career Education Corporation. At the end of the seven years, his campus was rated as the Top Campus out of the over 90 Campuses in the Corporation.
Dr. Pieffer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio; Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Richmond, Virginia; and a Doctor of Management Degree from Colorado Technical University.
