Dr. May Lowry brings to her position at JIU rich experience in teaching adults, community organizing and corporate training.

Prior to joining JIU in June 2010, Dr. Lowry served as the Dean of Teaching and Director of Curriculum at Westwood College from 2001 to 2010, supporting the training and development of 1,200 faculty nationwide. She simultaneously served on the faculty of the Mountain States Employers Council Organizational Development Certificate program (2001-2009).

During her 10-year appointment to the University of Colorado School of Education, she co-founded the Teaching and Learning with Technology campus-wide faculty support lab. While working with master’s and doctoral students at CU, she was awarded a Service Learning grant and recognized as the division Teacher of the Year in 1997.

Dr. Lowry's publications include articles in academic journals such as Instructional Practice in Higher Education Online Journal, Academic Medicine, and Performance Improvement, as well as chapters in the text books Case Studies in Instructional Design and Issues in Web-Based Pedagogy.

Her presentations at national conferences include those for the Higher Learning Commission, the American Education Research Association and the Association for Educational Communication and Technology.

As the new Chair of Faculty Development for Jones International University, Dr. Lowry is responsible for continuous quality improvement by the JIU faculty.
