Roberts T. Jones

As co-author of the recent book, The Jobs Revolution: Changing How America Works, Roberts T. Jones brings a very unique perspective on the public policy trends that impact our nation’s education and training systems. A lifelong advocate for investing in people, he is widely credited with helping place workforce development at the forefront of the nation’s public policy agenda.

Bob is the President of Education & Workforce Policy, LLC, a policy consulting firm whose singular focus is the advancement of education, training and workforce policy. He also serves as the President of the MTC Institute, the policy and research arm of the Management and Training Corporation.

Bob has served as the President and CEO of the National Alliance of Business, the Assistant Secretary of Labor under President Reagan and again under President Bush, senior positions in two major U.S. corporations and as a Chief of Staff to two US Congressman. Having held senior leadership positions in legislative and executive branches and extensive experience in the private sector, he has been personally engaged in every major factor of education, training and workforce legislation for the past 40 years. He played a key role in the landmark research project and report, Workforce 2000: Work and Workers for the 21st Century and was responsible for the Department of Labor's SCANS Commission, which for the first time spelled out the skills necessary for success in the workplace.

Bob serves on the Board of the ACT (American College Testing), the Business Higher Education Forum (BHEF), the National Center for Education Accountability (NCEA), the UAW-LETC Board and the Board of Advisors for the Ray Marshall Center for the Study of Human Resources at the University of Texas.

He is a Commissioner on the Senior College Accreditation Commission of the Western Association of Colleges and Universities (WASC) and is a member of the AAC&U National Leadership Council for Liberal Education & America's Promise (LEAP). He recently completed service on the CHEA 10th Anniversary Commission and the board of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

Bob serves on the board of directors of the Management and Training Corp (MTC) and is a member of the board of Jones International University (JIU).

Bob was awarded the Presidential Distinguished Executive Award, the highest honor in federal government. Bob is a graduate of the University of Redlands, served four years as an officer in the United States Air Force and is an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church.
