Dr. Roy Sutton is is a member of the School of Education faculty and previously served as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Director of Doctoral Programs at Jones International University. He holds a PhD from Colorado State University, an EdS from The University of Georgia, and an MEd from Georgia Southern University, all in the field of education and leadership. In additional, he received two BA’s from Georgia Southern University in English and in Philosophy. For more than 30 years, he has taught at the secondary, postsecondary and university levels and served as a Department Chair, Associate Dean, Dean and Campus President in both public and proprietary school settings. Dr. Sutton also served as the Staff Education Director for the Saudi Arabian National Guard’s Health Affairs division in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He comes from a family of educators, and he is committed to the concept that education enriches the lives of everyone in our society. He is passionate about helping students achieve their goals and removing the roadblocks that prevent success.
Dr. Sutton is a native of the Savannah, Georgia, area and has lived in Colorado for the past 23 years. He also lives part-time in the Okeefenokee Swamp near Jacksonville, FL. His personal passions are music, film, hiking in the Rockies and experiencing new cultures through world travel. Dr. Sutton’s most recent research publications focus on retention of students in online settings.
