Dr. Shana Pate has a rich and varied background in education. Her teaching experience includes eight years of public school teaching in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, teaching all subject areas to inclusion students, ESL students, special education students and gifted and talented students. . . all in a regular education classroom. During her 10-year tenure at Texas State University, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses to future/current teachers in the following areas: reading, writing, the reading/writing connection, social studies methods, science methods, instructional technology, assessment, curriculum & instruction, and human growth & development. Dr. Pate continues to teach online courses in the teacher preparation program at the University of Houston-Victoria. Additionally, she has two years experience with preschoolers, teaching pre-K and Spanish.
Dr. Pate has published books and articles as well as made presentations on topics as diverse as Holocaust education, literature circles, technology integration, social studies education, science, reading, music and pedagogy.
