Steve Sweitzer is the News Operations Manager and Chief Photographer for WISH-TV, the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis, Indiana.  In this role, he collaborates with reporter/photographer teams to improve the quality of their work, serves as System Manager for the station’s iNews and Avid computer systems, supervises all satellite bookings, and manages the schedules of 30 photographers and editors.

In years past, Mr. Sweitzer has managed WISH-TV’s Super Bowl coverage in Miami, Florida, field produced Katrina coverage from Gulfport, Mississippi, directed post 9/11 coverage in New York City, and supervised remote political convention coverage across the United States.

Mr. Sweitzer has received numerous photojournalism awards, including the Sprague Award from the National Press Photographers Association for his commitment to and advancement in the field of photojournalism. The award is the organization’s highest honor. He was also awarded the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in teaching, their highest honor for a part-time faculty member.  His photography has been recognized with twenty-nine first or second place awards from the Associated Press, United Press International, Society of Professional Journalists, and the Indiana Press Photographers Association.
