Toni Hull

Dr. Hull is currently the Science Content Area Specialist for JIU and is a 2012 US Department of Education Teaching Ambassador Fellow, one of 12 teachers nationally selected to represent educators at the federal level.  An accomplished educator, innovative instructional specialist and passionate educator, Dr. Hull has taught for the past 20 years. She has taught science to students, in New York State and New Mexico, ranging from middle school through college. As an Instructional Specialist in NM, she observes and coaches teachers, designs and delivers professional development, facilitates action research, assists in technology integration and collects data on instructional practices. She received the 2013 Professional Support Staff Person of the Year Award for Deming Pubic Schools in Deming, NM.

Dr. Hull has been a leader in education, as evidenced by her role as a regular presenter and keynote speaker. She is the JIU 2013 Commencement speaker. Her workshops on motivational techniques, continuous improvement methods, teacher personal development, literacy in the content areas and the use of technology in the classroom have been popular among conference participants. Dr. Hull is currently serving as Interim President of New Mexico ASCD and has been appointed a member of the JIU Program Advisory Committee. Her research interests include continuous improvement, teacher and student engagement, teacher leadership and motivational techniques. Her dissertation entitled The Effect of Total Quality Management on Teacher and Student Engagement, is an example of how action research and continuous improvement practices can be used to motivate and inspire teachers and students.
