Tyrone Yarbrough

Dr. Tyrone Yarbrough has been in K-20 for the past 16 years. During his career, he has assisted teachers and students in reaching their potential academically and personally. He currently serves as a faculty member for Jones International University and Assistant Superintendent of Leeds City Schools.

Dr. Yarbrough has been a teacher, assistant principal, coach, principal and curriculum director during his career.  He has been recognized as the Teacher of Year, Michael Jordan Foundation Teacher Winner and selected as a Who’s Who’s Among America Best Teachers on two occasions. He also serves as an Advance-Ed Accreditation Chairman and has served on numerous accreditation teams for schools and districts.

Dr. Yarbrough’s career at JIU career began in 2007. He enjoys the interaction with students who are striving to become teachers or those who are seeking advanced degrees for career advancement and growth. He has experiences in all areas of K-12 education and loves to share his experiences with students. As a life-long learner, he also enjoys learning from his students’ experiences.

He earned his Ed.D. from the University of Alabama in Education Leadership, Technology and Policy. He has presented to local community groups, parents, teachers from various districts, and a college Student Education Association organization.
